Panchakarma is a core set of five traditional therapeutic cleansing and rejuvenation treatments in Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine. The name literally translates to "five actions," and the therapy is designed to eliminate toxins (known as ama) from the body, balance the doshas (the body's functional principles of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), and restore overall health and well-being.

This stage prepares the body to release stored toxins through preliminary procedures like oil massages (Snehana) and induced sweating (Swedana), which help liquefy toxins and bring them to the gastrointestinal tract for elimination.

This final stage involves a restorative regimen of specific dietary changes (light, digestible foods like soups and stews are often recommended), lifestyle modifications, and medicines to consolidate the benefits and prevent the recurrence of disease.

This involves the five main cleansing therapies, customized to the individual's specific health condition and constitution.
